The age of over-tourism is real. Most of the tourism are directly influenced of effected by the Socail Media Boom. We’ve seen the photos in Santorini with 40 people crammed into the same blue-dome shot, Bali’s “hidden” temples with parking lots, the Maldives priced like a second mortgage. The world is still spectacular, but the well-worn paths are getting worn into dust.
Here are nine destinations that are genuinely stunning, genuinely accessible (most of them), and genuinely underrated heading into 2026. Some are easy to travel and inexpensive but some may require saving. But all of them are worth it.
#1. Faroe Islands, Denmark | The Most Dramatic Landscape Nobody Talks About
If beautiful Scotland and Scenic Iceland had a baby, then hid that baby in the middle of the North Atlantic, it is Faroe Island. The Faroe Islands are 18 volcanic islands with cliffs that drop straight into the sea, villages that look like they’re from a fairytale, and hiking trails that will make your jaw hit the ground. Tourism is growing but still manageable, visit now before everyone else figures it out.
